A Guide to Finding Great West Hollywood Restaurants

In the past couple of decades, West Hollywood has developed a stellar reputation for culinary diversity and excellence on the West Coast. The trend began with Wolfgang Puck's restaurant Spago, which was located on the Hollywood Strip. Since then, chefs from all corners of the world have come to what is affectionately known as WeHo to expand their culinary empires. This area has become so famous that even revered actors have gotten into the act of opening West Hollywood restaurants. Read below to find out how you can find your new favorite restaurant in WeHo.

WeHo: The Place to Be for Ultimate Foodies

If you have the bravery to declare yourself a foodie who knows more than a bit about all things food, then you probably have WeHo as a bucket list destination. As a matter of fact, you probably want to try more than one. You may even want to try them all!

Why wouldn't you? West Hollywood restaurants have a reputation for being on the cutting edge of culinary excellence. With the tantalizing combination of the mystique of Hollywood and the creative spirit of such urban centers as New York, going on a culinary tour of WeHo should be a dream come true for a true foodie.

What You Can Find in West Hollywood

The answer is: everything! You can be sure that you'll be able to find whatever you're in the mood for in West Hollywood. Whether your tastes gravitate towards hearty Italian cuisine, old fashioned Asian dining or cutting edge fusion, you'll be sure to find it in this area.

Another thing you might find in WeHo is Hollywood star power. One Oscar winning actor has part ownership in a West Hollywood restaurant. There's also a good chance that on any given night, you'll find celebrities of all shapes, sizes and lists dining in WeHo. It is Hollywood, after all.

How to Find Your New Favorite WeHo Restaurant on the Internet

If you plan on taking a culinary tour of WeHo, you'll do well to do some Internet research before heading off on your foodie journey. You can go on independent websites for reviews from diners. Some WeHo restaurants also have websites that keeps you informed of events as well as letting diners make reservations.

When looking at reviews of WeHo restaurants from disgruntled diners, proceed cautiously. Don't let one negative review affect your decision to visit a particular restaurant. Any number of factors could have led to that diner's impressions. However, several negative comments may merit you going elsewhere to spend your dollars.

West Hollywood restaurants have captured top billing as a culinary Mecca in the United States. Make it down to WeHo one of these days and see what all the fuss is about.

If you're headed out on the town anywhere near Hollywood, be sure to check out any of the dozens of amazing Hollywood restaurants that are there just begging for you to come in and get a taste of something new and exciting. If you're out having a good time anyway, why not enjoy the food as well?

And you'll find every type of restaurant imaginable in the mix, from fancy places to places there are no seats, to places where they are family-owned, to corporate style, and every other type of variation you can think of. Many of the tourist attraction spots offer restaurants as well, so be sure to check those out during your entertainment endeavors.

And it really doesn't matter what type of food you are looking for at the time, because they have everything. American, British, Irish, Mexican, Ethiopian, Korean, Chinese … That's one of the best part about California is the diversity of people in it, which directly relates to the types of food that you can find everywhere.

Do be careful about timing though. If there is a certain place that you have in mind, make sure they are open before you head into the city and have to park, only to find out they are closed for a few hours or potentially the whole day. You never know until you call, so it's important that you make sure.

And you don't have to be rich and famous to eat at some of the places downtown as well. There are plenty of places for people of all economic brackets, and happy hours and discounts on certain days are a major boon as well. Dollar tacos are always a favorite, and drink specials can cool down your thirst on hot days.

Since there are so many different types of places in the area, there are a ton of free guides that will tell you which places are good, where they are, and what you might want to try. If you pick up one of the free local papers they will have some ads that might interest you, so check them out first for sure.

There are also a number of places to look for reviews, both online and in print. FourSquare, Yelp, and Facebook are good examples of places to check for both amateur and professional reviews, and should be some of the first places that you look while you're wandering around town.

So do a little research, find the place that looks right, make sure it's open, check the reviews on it, and head into the Hollywood restaurant that seems like it's the perfect choice for the day, and be sure to enjoy the sunshine and the beautiful people while you are out and about on your journey.
