The main problem with such a career is that it doesn't come easy, but as the saying goes, nothing good comes easy and this is especially true for the entertainment world. The road to success and Hollywood is a tricky one and it will test your skills to the limits. So if you are thinking of starting an acting career it is better to know from the start that it won't be easy.
First, you should know that actors have a hard time finding a job. You do not enter the entertainment world by having a degree in theatre arts and you certainly don't become famous that way. So how can you get a job as an actor? There are two ways; being really good or knowing the right people. Both of these things are really important and if you look forward to an acting career focus on your talent and acting skills and at the same time try and meet important people that will help you.
How can you get good at acting? Practice and continue learning. Many people tend to ignore the fact that acting is somewhat like a science. There are acting methods and techniques which you must learn in order to become a professional. You'll have to discipline yourself, and sometimes you'll have to sacrifice a lot in order to achieve progress.
Acting courses can offer you the professional help that you need in order to improve your acting skills and acting workshops will give you the opportunity to meat professionals in the field and to befriend fellow actors.
Spend a lot time in theatres and go to as many plays as you can. Seeing actors play can be a live authentic source of inspiration for you.
Auditions are sometimes the only way you can become an actor. Some auditions are only held for extras, but you can find some that offer more important roles. Becoming an extra can have its advantages too, as you'll be on the filming platform close to the director, producer and the big stars of the movie, but this doesn't necessarily means that they will pay attention to you. You can work as an extra and at the same time practice your acting skills and go to auditions to try and score a more important role!
